Okay kids, so before your wireless this and Fortnite that, there was this thing called IEEE 1394 aka FireWire 400 (3-pin), later upgraded to 6-pin FireWire 800. Finding adapters to modern displays (DP, or even mini-DP, HDMI, etc) is almost impossible. Thankfully it turned out the lab manager purchased a new instrument using USB connectors, so after an hour of pulse-pounding searches for the mythical adapter, the day was saved. I didn't even know this port existed til a job for a beloved microscopy manager required an impromptu research project. The more you know! #technology #oldtech #history #ancientaliens #whatisthis #ifeelold https://www.instagram.com/p/ChQIrTQJ4Ot/ #mindset #bullies #life #free https://www.instagram.com/p/ChORcQeDBJP/ Just finished one of the most interesting and well-written books I have ever read. Occult America by Mitch Horowitz is a collection of some of the weirdest, most interesting stories of American spiritualism and occult history by a passionate scholar and gifted storyteller. Like with Bill Bryson or Diarmid McCulloch, I love history told by those who are genuinely fascinated by it. An excellent primer on the many threads running through alternative spirituality in the New World, from Quaker mysticism and New Thought to Ernest Holmes and Madame Blavatsky (along with much-suppresser African American and Marxist-inspired movements, or the infamous and insane Silver Shirts movement of bizarre mystical neo-Nazis). Highly recommended to lovers of weird history, biography, and alternative spirituality. #books #bookstagram #spirituality #history #weirdhistory https://www.instagram.com/p/ChNCTyVOdds/
